One of the newest trends in swimwear for the spring 2012 season is the swimdress. Think retro pin-up girl, but with better spandex and underwire support. This new spin on the one-piece swimsuit is making full-coverage swimwear sexy again for women of all ages. I should know…swimsuit shopping season is in full swing!
After spending the last two weeks located the perfect swimwear for clients in the DFW area, I have decided on my top picks for the swimdress. Here they are! Now you just have to decide which swimdress is for you. Happy swimming, retro style!

One of my favorite trends of the Spring 2012 season is color-blocking. Color-blocking is not only a great trend in clothing, but it also spans other areas of fashion, like shoes, jewelry and bags.

Over the past month, I have been on a hunt, for a certain client, for the perfect color-blocked crossbody bag. The specifications are that it must be under $100 and include only neutrals (brown, black, white, etc.). Keeping the color-blocking neutral will also for pairing with a great number of pieces in her existing wardrobe and will ensure longevity when neon color-blocking goes out (and who can tell how quickly that will be!). Here are my two favorite finds for this project. Which bag do you like best?

Black and white ruled the red carpet at the Oscars last night. High contrast and understated accessories had a major showing, while most hair remained sleek and makeup was minimal.
Here are my top picks from the red carpet at the Academy Awards:
Gwyneth Paltrow was stunning at both the Grammy’s and the Oscars this year. Her stark white gown screams “fashion forward” with accented shoulders and matching cape. While her hair style has been controversial and her makeup is super minimal, it matches her overall look elegantly.

Emma Stone looked lovely in one of the only colored gowns of the evening, proving that red-heads really can wear red! She looks totally age appropriate and flawless.

Jennifer Lopez looked super sexy last night in a plunging gown with cut-out arms. The striped fabric accentuated her lovely frame, as did her high and sleek bun with understated lips.

My personal favorite of the evening! I love Sandra Bullock’s black and white gown with gold detailing. She chose to wear her jewelry on her dress! This look is so modern and made complete by her high ponytail and soft earrings.

Angelina Jolie was the most daring of the evening in her thigh-high leg slit. I love the intensity of her dress’s fabric and the contrast between her lips and gown. She is the essence of drama!

Release Me Creations, one of my favorite local jewelers, was asked to make 100 necklaces for all of our favorites movie stars’ gift bags at the Academy Awards! As early as next week, you may see these darling pieces around the necks of Hollywood royalty. Let’s hope TMZ is watching!
Here are some of the necklaces that went in the Oscar bags:
All of the necklaces are $30. Visit the Release Me Creations site to purchase your very own!
And don’t forget to watch the Oscars this Sunday, February the 24th! I’ll be taking notes of the best dressed of the evening. Afterall, it’s fashion’s biggest night out!
Grab your girlfriends and head out for some local shopping. 360 West is hosting its very first Trunk Show Thursday on March 8th from 5 to 8pm on 7th street. The 7th street boutiques will be offering cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as you peruse their new spring merchandise. I’ll be attending the event and would love to meet up with you for some shopping!
Check out the flyer (Trunkshow Thursday Flyer) to learn more about this fabulously fashionable event!
The Grammy’s is one of my favorite awards events, specifically for the fashions. Whether you prefer elegant gowns or the fashion fearless, the Grammy’s showcases a smattering of looks for everyone’s tastes.
The big fashion themes of tonight were high necklines and sequins (sometimes worn together!) and mixed in with some understated and streamlined dresses. Here are my top picks of the night:

Head to toe sequins was one of the big fashion trends of this year’s Grammy’s. I love Kelly’s youthful take on shimmer.

I absolutely adore this minimalistic black and gold gown. Gwyneth’s sleek ponytail and light makeup completes the look. I’m sure this dress will also inspire millions of women to do their crunches!

Ever lovely and elegant, Carrie Underwood stuns at the Grammy’s. Her sequined gown is gorgeous and perfectly accessorized with a contrasting black bag, tousled hair and dangling earrings.
Hello yellow! Bold is a common theme among spring 2012 fashion trends, and one of the biggest colors of the season is no exception. Ranging from light lemon to mustard, and every shade in-between, adding a little dash of yellow is a great way to make your wardrobe pop! Now, if yellow strikes you with fear, or just washes out your complexion…which is equally fearful!, try out the bright hue as an accessory. Pumps and purses look lovely in yellow and won’t turn your skin a sour shade. Bring on the sun!
Here are some of my favorite yellow pieces this season:
Marc Jacobs Quilted Crossbody Bag, $575.00

I love a bright bag in a crossbody style. It’s such a fun look and keeps you hands free when running errands or shopping.
Jason Wu for Target Textured Top, $32.99

Worn by Ann Curry on the Today show! This great mustard piece pairs nicely with black, white, purple or even grey.
Asos Hybrid Dress, $152.19

This yellow dress from Asos shows off another major trend for spring 2012, ladylike designs.
J.Crew Mona Pump, $198

J.Crew’s Mona pump is a staple for many of my clients. The Mona is a very wearable height, and the yellow shade is so much fun when paired with white pants or jeans. It also looks great with blue denim and navy.
